EA Sports announced yesterday that Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson will be on the cover for its Madden 13 football video game. Johnson beat out 63 other players who were up for the cover, including Cam Newton, who was a finalist along with Johnson.
Along with the cover nod, comes the fear of the "Madden Curse" as most players that have graced the popular video game cover, see a decline in performance - usually due to injury.
When asked about the curse, Johnson said, "I'm not a big guy for curses," he said. "I don't even think about it."
"Just to see yourself on this Madden, seeing all the guys that have been on this the years before, come on, man," Johnson said, shaking his head. "I am very grateful for that. This means a lot. This is great." Johnson said of the honor.
